A PRP facial combines microneedling, which creates tiny controlled channels in the skin, with platelet-rich plasma from your own blood to support collagen production. It is used to improve skin texture, fine lines, enlarged pores and acne scars. Most people need 3 sessions about 4 weeks apart, and results build over several months. A single session is $900; the $450 consultation is credited toward your first treatment.

How does a PRP facial work?
Microneedling triggers the skin’s natural repair process. Applying PRP during and after microneedling delivers growth factors into those channels, which may enhance collagen and elastin formation compared with microneedling alone.
What does the research show?
The strongest evidence is for atrophic acne scars. In a split-face study, the side treated with microneedling plus PRP improved more than the side treated with microneedling plus saline (Asif et al., Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2016). Evidence for general skin rejuvenation is promising but comes from smaller studies. See our PRP for acne scars page for more detail.
What to expect at your visit
- Consultation and skin assessment.
- Blood draw: we draw 4 tubes of blood per session, more than many clinics use, to prepare a larger volume of platelet-rich plasma.
- Numbing cream is applied for about 30 minutes.
- Microneedling with PRP applied to the skin; additional PRP may be injected into specific areas.
- Your skin will look pink, like a sunburn, for 1 to 3 days.
Aftercare
- Avoid makeup for 24 hours and strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours.
- Use gentle cleanser and moisturizer; avoid retinoids and acids for about 5 days.
- Use sunscreen daily.
Risks and side effects
Redness, mild swelling, pinpoint bleeding and dryness are expected and short-lived. Less common risks include infection, breakouts and pigment changes, especially in darker skin types. Microneedling is not recommended during active acne flares, skin infection, or within 6 months of oral isotretinoin (Accutane).

Is this the same as a “Vampire Facial”?
“Vampire Facial” is a trademarked name for a PRP facial with microneedling. We describe our treatment by what it is: microneedling with your own platelet-rich plasma.
How soon will I see results?
Skin often looks brighter within 1 to 2 weeks; collagen changes continue for about 3 months after each session.
